730 N Milwaukee

730 N. Milwaukee is a West Loop multi-tenant residential development. Adjustable was tasked with constructing a 24-story high-rise whose podium slabs partially overhung an existing commercial building. We partnered closely with Structural Engineer BASE and Contractor/Developer Tandem Partners to meet the challenge. We designed the project to improve weight and structural efficiencies, reduce core walls and slab thickness, minimize beams, and optimize post-tension layout. We also installed additional shoring within the existing building so the construction loads would put minimal strain on the roof of the structure. All material going through the building had to be moved by hand for minimal disruption and safety.

This was Tandem’s first ever venture into multi-story construction. The project represented a partnership between developer, general contractor, and subcontractors that made for a very successful experience for the entire team.
